What are SIGs?

They are actually small groups of CCSC (Computer Club of Sun City) members meeting together to discuss a designated computer topic. Generally SIGs are held weekly or monthly but not always. There is no charge or pre-registration required for these SIG Groups.

Microsoft Flight Simulator programs offer simulator realism, which until quite recently, was found only in multi million dollar  military and commercial trainers. Now, with a minimal investment in program and flight controls, anyone can learn to fly anything from the J-3 Piper to some of the most modern aircraft known today. This SIG offers group and individual training for those who always wanted to fly, but somehow just never got around to it.

The Airbus A380, built by France and England to compete with Boeing, is a two deck airliner that will carry 550 passengers half way around the world.

They haven't tried to operate it off an aircraft carrier but the CCSC Flight Sim SIG managed to take off and land it on the USS Stennis. If you listen closely you can hear the tires squeal!

Genealogy

The Genealogy SIG is held on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at 9:00 a.m.

Anyone interested in doing his/her family history can join the Genealogy SIG to discover how family history records can be kept easily using various software programs. The word genealogy is derived from the Greek and means the study of family history and descent. Genealogies, or the recorded histories of the descent of a person or family from their ancestors, are also often referred to as family trees or sometimes as lineages or pedigrees. This Special Interest Group meets to develop knowledge of genealogy and to exchange information about how to use Family Tree Maker software. If you are interested in tracing your roots, join us at 9:00 a.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month.

Ink Well

Members interested in learning more about printers, whether it’s troubleshooting a problem, figuring out how to print an envelope, or learning more about the ink cartridges that go into your printer, are invited to attend. If you are fairly knowledgeable in how your particular printer operates, consider attending to lend support to fellow club members who have the same printer as you. If you are fairly experienced in refilling your cartridges or are a “happy tinkerer” and would like to help others gain more knowledge in this area, we could use your expertise.  At present, we have two very capable volunteers who are on duty Mondays (Verne Hook) and Wednesdays (Sandy Sanders) between 11:00 AM and 12 Noon to assist you with cartridge cleaning, ink cartridge questions, and ink cartridge refilling. Since printer problems don’t occur on just Mondays and Wednesday, it would be nice to eventually have someone available each day of the week. If this area of volunteerism interests you or you just plain need more printer and/or ink information, this is the SIG for you.
