You must be a club member and must have attended monitor training to register for any class.
Pre-registration is required for all classes.
NEW CLASS REGISTRATION PROCEDURE
Walk-in registration is available for about two months prior to the start of all scheduled classes. Just go to the computer club anytime it is open, select a class binder, take the top class registration slip, fill out requested information on the top registration envelope, insert a $5.00 check or exact change into the envelope, and give the envelope to the monitor. Class registration binders are available approximately one month prior to class start dates.
Students need a USB flash drive for most classes. Bring your own USB flash drive, or you can buy a 2 GB USB flash drive at the club for $10 (correct change, please).
There is a flat fee of $5.00 for each class. A class may include one or more class sessions.

You should arrive on time for your class, as all sessions begin on time. Lessons are presented in a progressive order. If a hands-on class is missed, it may not be possible for you to continue the class as hands-on.

Free, hands-on class, one session. This class is designed for those who consider themselves absolute novices at the computer. It serves as a prelude to Computing 101, giving those with no computer experience a chance to start at the same level as those who have been using their computer a little before starting classes. |

| Computing 101 in XP |
Hands-on class, three two-hour sessions over a three-day
period. This is a most basic class in computers for users who have no experience with a computer or for the persons who have some experience from their work place, but who have limited knowledge about the basics. The class covers basic information about your computer from the ground up. Included will be information about the XP operating system and how to use a flash drive. Also, you will learn some word processing functions, such as making folders and files and placing them in your computer so you can find them later, and cutting, copying, and pasting. We will talk about the Internet, study the club's web page, and look at the e-mail process. |

| Computing 101 in Vista |
Hands-on class; three two-hour sessions over a three-day period. This is a class designed for new computer users and is taught in the Room C classroom. Each class will consist of three consecutive sessions. Content includes basic information about your computer and the Vista operating system; working with a USB flash drive; finding, identifying, and copying files; creating folders; basic word processing; some Internet and e-mail information. |

Hands-on class, three two-hour sessions over a three-day period. This is a class designed for new computer users and is taught in the Windows 7 classroom. Each class will consist of three sessions. Hands-on class; total of three two-hour sessions. Suggested prerequisites: Computing 101 in XP, Vista, or Windows 7 and XP, Vista's, or Windows 7 Operating System. This is an intense study requiring you to know your keyboard and have good listening skills. Explorer is an organizational program that helps you to make your own folders and put files into them. This course will give you knowledge to add to, change, create, move, organize, and control your folder system. |

| Word Processing: WordPad | Beginning, hands-on class; four two-hour sessions. Suggested prerequisites: Computing 101 in XP, Vista, or Windows 7; XP, Vista, or Windows 7 Operating System; and Explorer in XP, Vista & Windows 7. Word processing using the WordPad program that comes with Windows; creating, editing, saving, and printing documents; formatting documents (including alignment, line spacing, indenting, setting tabs, creating and sorting lists, and enhancing text). Notes on using Microsoft Word are included in class handouts. |

| Open Office Writer | Hands-on class; four two-hour
sessions. Suggested prerequisites: Good basic computer skills as taught in Computing 101 in XP and Explorer in XP, Vista & Windows 7. Open Office Writer is a word processing program that is available as a free download at http://download.openoffice.org/. This course deals with downloading Open Office; creating, editing, saving, and printing documents; and formatting documents (including alignment, line spacing, indenting, setting tabs, and enhancing text). Notes on using Open Office Writer are included in class handouts. |

Hands-on class; four two-hour sessions. Suggested prerequisites: You should have good mouse skills and be familiar with the standard and formatting toolbars. It is recommended that you have successfully completed all Level 1 courses plus Word I 2002 - Beginning. You will learn about cells, data values, and beginning formulas (functions). Learn how you can record home expenses and have at your disposal all individual totals of each expense category. Other helpful features learned will be copying and pasting data, filling series, replicating, shading certain cells, and enhancing your project with borders. |

Hands-on class, four two-hour sessions over a four-day period. Introduction to spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel 2007. You will learn about cells, data values, and beginning formulas (functions). Learn how you can record home expenses and have at your disposal all individual totals of each expense category. Other helpful features learned will be copying and pasting data, filling series, replicating, shading certain cells, and enhancing your project with borders. |

| Digital Photography and CD Burning
in Windows 7 |
Hands-on class; two, two-hour sessions. Suggested prerequisites: Computing 101 in Windows 7; Windows 7 Operating System; Explorer in XP, Vista & Windows 7. Students should bring their digital camera, USB flash drive, and camera instruction manual. This class is an introduction to digital cameras--how they work and how to use them. Using Windows 7, photos are copied from the camera to the computer and are burned to a CD. Picture rotation, resizing, and saving are performed. Other projects may include using one of your photos for a desktop background, setting up a pictures slideshow screen saver, and inserting or attaching pictures to e-mail. If you bring a USB flash drive to this class, you will copy your photos to it during the class. |

| PhotoShop Elements 7 - Beginning |
One lecture session and three hands-on sessions. Each student receives a CD containing lesson material. Suggested prerequisites: Computing 101 in XP, Vista, or Windows 7; XP, Vista's, or Windows 7 Operating System; and Explorer in XP, Vista & Windows 7. Although this class will be taught on Windows 7 computers, the Adobe PhotoShop Elements 7 software used in this class can be used on Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 computers. Is the very best picture of your daughter one with a tall cactus sticking out of the top of her head? Do old photos look faded, or maybe you have slides that have lost their color. This is where you learn how to adjust and improve your photographs. This class emphasizes the Elements Organizer to keep all of your photos on track. |

| Animation Creation |
Hands-on class; four two-hour sessions. This class teaches the use of the free animation program Serif DrawPlus4. Starting with digital photos and vector clipart, animations are created that can be put into e-mail like a picture. The digital photo of a person can provide the head that can be used in the animation to make it very personalized. For example, my head on a dancing leprechaun was sent as a "Happy St. Patrick's Day" e-mail that contained Irish dance music in the background. | Excel II 2002 in XP - Intermediate |
Hands-on class; four two-hour sessions. This class continues where Excel I 2002 - Beginning leaves off and will go into formulas/functions much deeper than in the beginning class as we build various ways to record information with the computer doing all of the mathematics. The old way of accounting--journalizing, posting and creating reports--can be accomplished with the computer doing all the posting and creating reports, and you do only the entering of data (journalizing). Retrieving certain data from the spreadsheet through sorting and filtering will be covered. With data from the spreadsheet program, you will learn how to print out mailing labels for envelopes. |

| Excel II 2007 in Vista - Intermediate |
Hands-on class; four two-hour sessions. This class continues where Excel I 2007 - Beginning leaves off and will go into formulas/functions much deeper than in the beginning class as we build various ways to record information with the computer doing all of the mathematics. Included may be chart creation; range names; IF, VLOOKUP, DATE and TIME, and financial functions (loan and annuity calculations); use of comments; multiple worksheets, various number formats, and custom formatting. |

| PhotoShop Elements - Intermediate |
Hands-on class; four two-hour sessions. Suggested prerequisites: Computing 101 in XP; XP Operating System; Explorer in XP, Vista & Windows 7; and PhotoShop Elements - Beginning. This course continues where PhotoShop Elements - Beginning ends. There is too much to learn in one class. This Intermediate class covers the more advanced features of Adobe PhotoShop Elements 3.0. |

| Photo Story 3 | Hands-on class; three two-hour sessions. Suggested prerequisites: Computing 101 in XP; XP Operating System; Explorer in XP, Vista & Windows 7; and Digital Photography and CD Burning in XP. Create slideshows using your digital photos. Touch up, crop, or rotate pictures; add stunning special effects, soundtracks, and your own voice narration; add titles and captions; watch on your TV, a computer, or a Windows Mobile-based portable device. Although this program can be used for setting up business type presentations, our main project in learning the features will involve your setting up an album with your favorite pictures from home, showing them on the computer screen with captions, movement, and other enhancing features. PowerPoint is a great way to save all your favorite memories for future viewing. |

Hands-on class; five two-hour sessions. Print Artist is a graphics program that works with Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 designed to teach the basic instructions for making signs, greeting cards, calendars, and business cards. Team teachers instruct and prepare handouts to ensure the student's ability to repeat the lessons at home. Each, in a series of five classes, progresses in difficulty keeping in mind a desire for the success of the student. Purchase of the Print Artist Gold 22 program is required. It can be found at www.printartist.com or at Fry's Electronics, Best Buy, Office Max, or from Nova Development Corporation, 23801 Calabasas Rd., Calabasas, CA 91302, www.novadevelopment.com, phone: 818-591-6245. Flash drives are required to transport your completed projects to your computer. They can be purchased in the classroom for $10. Both men and women enjoy taking this challenging series. Working with graphics increases your mental ability to think clearly. |

| Windows Movie Maker | Hands-on class; four two-hour sessions. Suggested prerequisites: Computing 101 in XP; XP Operating System; Explorer in XP, Vista & Windows 7; and Digital Photography and CD Burning in XP, Vista, or Windows 7. Learn to create a movie with Windows Movie Maker that will be saved as an .avi file that can be played by the Windows Media Player software that comes with Windows XP. You will see how to download a video from your digital camcorder or digital camera and then place those captured clips into a movie with lots of add-on clips to enhance your video creation. Add your own voice to the movie; then save the movie into your computer, send it to someone by e-mail, or send it to the CD-R or right back into your digital camcorder. |

| Creating DVDs from Anything - Advanced |
Advanced hands-on class; four two-hour sessions. Although this class will be taught using Vista computers, the Corel Video Studio software used can be installed on Windows XP and Windows 7 computers as well as Vista computers. In this class you will learn how to digitize your old 35mm slides, 8mm movies, and photographs. You will also learn how to download video and digital stills to use in your DVDs. You will learn how to add titles, transitions, narration, and background music and burn the finished product to DVD. |

| Quicken 2010 |
Hands-on class; four two-hour sessions. Although this class will be taught using Windows 7 computers, the Quicken 2010 software used can be run on Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 computers. Use a computer to track your finances--enter bills, record check payments, balance your checkbook, track what you spend, create a budget, and plan for tax time. |

| Web Page Creation | Hands-on class; five two-hour sessions. Suggested prerequisites: Computing 101 in XP; XP Operating System; and Explorer in XP, Vista & Windows 7. This class is an introduction to Web page creation. It includes a brief introduction to using HTML (HyperText Markup Language) to create a single Web page. Then Microsoft FrontPage 2002 is used to create a Web. Instructions are provided for activating a Web Presence Provider. Web pages are uploaded to your personal Web site(s). |

Hands-on class; four two-hour sessions. Suggested prerequisites: Computing 101 in XP; XP Operating System; Explorer in XP, Vista & Windows 7; Word I 2002 in XP - Beginning; and Word II 2002 in XP - Intermediate. Advanced word processing for those who are already familiar with beginning and intermediate features of the Microsoft Word 2002-3 program on Windows XP computers. Includes document maintenance within Word, using tabs to create a form, borders, using a table to create a bulletin, mail merge, labels, envelopes, styles, table of contents, macros, symbols, AutoCorrect features, drop caps, fill-in forms, etc. |

| Access Database 2002 - Beginning |
Hands-on class; five two-hour sessions. Suggested prerequisites: Computing 101 in XP; XP Operating System; Explorer in XP, Vista & Windows 7; and Excel I 2002 - Beginning. This class using Microsoft Access 2002 is primarily for those who are familiar with the computer. Features taught in the Excel 2002: Level I - Beginning class are used in this Access Database class. It will touch on setting up a database, creating tables, entering data, establishing relationships between tables, creating forms, and creating reports. You will also learn how to sort and filter out certain data from the entire database. |
