Land of Opportunity - Club of Opportunity

The Computer Club of Sun City is many things to many people. Some people think of the club as a place to learn in a classroom environment. Some people think of it as a place to discuss hardware, software, and use of computers. All are true, all are available to members, and all require volunteers. Each provides you with an excellent and rewardng opportunity.

A place to learn: Learning occurs by discussion and in the classroom. Discussion between members with interests in common takes on at least two personalities. One is the informal discussion between members in the lobby, in the hallway, or in Room B (the members' open computer room). Another is in SIGs (Special Interest Groups).

We are always seeking knowledgeable members to lead SIGs. Maybe you have a lot of computer hardware or application experience and do not need classroom learning, but maybe you would enjoy sharing your experience with others interactively. Perhaps you would be rewarded by knowing you have provided a source of joy to others by exercising your leadership and passing on your knowledge and the knowledge of others. Then we need you as a SIG leader.

Specific subject learning occurs in our classrooms with student computers and an enthusiastic instructor, whose reward is the knowledge he/she has given others new knowledge or a new or more polished skill set. The reward is great, indeed. There is nothing that compares to the great feeling of watching another person "see" the point of what you teach, lighting up with a smile that rivals a sunrise. If you have the knowledge, then we need you as an instructor.

Perhaps you are a techie or a hardware-oriented person. Perhaps you gain great pleasure in making things work right, with hardware or operating systems. Perhaps joy comes your way when things that were not working right or optimally are made to do so. Then we need you as a computer repair technician.

Finally, perhaps you are a person who gets a lot of pleasure being around people in a positive environment, helping them know what the club has to offer, "which way to go," or what to do. Perhaps you like to have interaction with people or have happy conversations; or perhaps just being helpful to others brings you joy. Then we need you as a monitor.

Regardless of what gives you pleasure, there is an opportunity for you here at CCSC (Computer Club of Sun City); and we hope you will take advantage of this opportunity because you are needed! Volunteer today!

Questions? Want to volunteer? Contact the Computer Club of Sun City at 623-933-8953 right away. You will be glad you did!
